  • I recently came across this blog post which talked all about finding your life's purpose and figuring out what you want to do with your life; a question will probably all struggle with on a weekly basis, particularly if you're a Uni student like me. The blog post had a few funny questions which it encouraged you answer to learn more about yourself. I thought I'd share these questions, and my answers, and maybe you can have a go at this time if you struggling with this idea of life purpose at the moment.

    What's your favourite flavour of shit sandwich and does it come with an olive? (What struggle or sacrifice are you willing to tolerate?)
    The struggles and sacrifices I'm willing to tolerate are:
    - the photo I envision taking will be the crap the first time I try;
    - I won't get the job and will have to settle for a lower-paying one in the mean time;
    - I will always feel time poor;
    - I'll have to teach myself how to do it.

    What is true about you today that would make your 8-year-old self cry?
    - That I don't spend as much time reading books;
    - All the silly things I get stressed and sad about.

    What make you forget to eat and poop?
    - Playing games;
    - Reading;
    - Watching YouTube;
    - Writing when I'm on a roll, in the zone and passionate;
    - Listening to music.

    How can you better embarrass yourself? (What are you holding back from doing due to fear?)
    - Taking photos;
    - Travelling alone (especially to New York);
    - Filming
    - Sometimes wearing certain things I want to wear;
    - Doing and trying things I don't have much knowledge about.

    How are you going to save the world? (How can you make an individual difference?)
    - Be more conscious of the products I buy and if they're environmentally friendly;
    - Minimise plastic bag use;
    - Express my opinion more when I can on my blog;
    - Buy less food so I actually eat everything that's in my fridge;
    - Buy less meat;
    - Comment on other people's blogs to provide encouragement.

    Gun to your head, if you had to leave the house all day, every day, where would you go and what would you do (no sitting in coffee shops with free WiFi, no internet, no TV, no video games)?
    - Go to the beach;
    - Find new walking tracks to experience;
    - Do it all with a camera in hand;
    - Learn more musical instruments;
    - Admire street art more;
    - Find free events, markets, etc, to enjoy;
    - Do more yoga.

    If you knew you were going to die one year from today, what would you do and how would you want to be remembered?
    - Leave Uni and go travel (especially to New York and Brazil);
    - Travel more of Australia;
    - Ensure I have a book published;
    - See more of family and friends;
    - Take photos to capture it all and put it all on my blog for the world to see for the rest of the Internet's existence;
    - I want to be remembered as the girl who would have an idea, a dream or want, and would go for it, all with a camera in hand and write about it after. A creative person with a clearly unique style and enegery that couldn't be exactly pinpointed into any words except "it's just something she would do".

    Previously I shared some of the apps on my phone that I use to edit my photos. I decided to do another one of those posts but share with you some of the games I love playing on my phone (I'm a Uni student so I need the procrastination).

    Two Dots

    This is a sequel to the original game called Dots, which I've also played previously, but this one is a little different from that. It has a crap load of levels like Candy Crush, as well as extra challenges every couple of weeks. Basically you join same-coloured dots to achieve the goals of the level. Simple, yet addictive. This game only gives you a certain amount of lives which regenerate over time, which is perfect for me because when I run out it forces me to stop playing.

    Candy Crush
    Because of course.

    Best Fiends

    You've probably seen every blogger and their dog talk about this app, at least that's how I found it. After about ten bloggers and Youtubers I follow mentioned the game, I couldn't hold off my curiosity any longer and downloaded it - addicted.

    94%

    This is a word type game. Basically you're given a picture or a word and you have to try and guess what others words are associated with that picture or word.

    Circle

    This is one game me and my boyfriend both have and go through phases of being real competitive with. Basically you have a ring and you tap on it to keep it in the air, and to stop it from touching the line - it's all about seeing how far you can get, and the further you go the higher your score. P.S I'm currently the champion at this between me and my boyfriend.

    Zigzag

    Another one of those games me and my boyfriend constantly try to beat each other at, and at which I'm currently winning ;) It's similar to Circle except this time you have a little marble and you tap to make it change the direction in which it's rolling and you have to keep it on the course and not let it fall off the edge. Simple yet bloody addictive, and also infuriating at times.

    Pokemon Go

    Yep I basically jumped on the bandwagon immediately with this game after my friend showed me it just a day after it launched. Then I got my boyfriend hooked and now we find nothing more enjoyable then going for walks with his dog so we can catch Pokemon. I'm excited to see what other updates they bring out to make this game even more awesome.

    As semester two fast approaches, you may be considering taking one step closer to adulthood and moving out of home into a share house for the first time.
    Getting into a rental property can be a tiring and downright painful task with all those inspections and applications. And it’s not easy with all of those tricky words real estate agents use in the ads.
    If you don’t understand what they really mean, you could end up spending hours looking at places that aren’t your style and not what you’re looking for.
    To give you a helping hand, we’ve decoded some of the cheeky terms agents can use so you know what you’re really getting yourself into next time you’re searching for a place.

    What they say: “Cosy bedroom.”

    What they mean: “This bedroom is legit tiny.”

    Be warned, this bedroom is bloody small. So small, in fact, that you’ll probably only be able to fit a bed. A single bed. If you don’t own anything other than a bed, and have no desire to, then this won’t be a problem for you. However for the other 99 per cent of us, this is a sign you’re about to walk into a space smaller than Harry Potter’s cupboard under the stairs.

    What they say: “Tidy, well-presented bathroom.”

    What they mean: “This bathroom was constructed in the ’80s.”

    The bathroom the agent is talking about is one that is small enough for you to take a shower while sitting on the toilet. It’s also likely to be the original bathroom that was built when the house was. This means it was probably constructed sometime in the ’80s, has a horrid pink tiles and makes you feel unclean just walking into it.

    What they say: “Off-street parking available.”

    What they mean: “You’ll spend an hour on average looking for a park.”

    Depending on where the place is located this may or may not be a problem. If the place is anywhere in or near a city and you own a car, this probably means you’ll spend an hour each day looking for somewhere to park, and then have to walk five blocks back to your actual house. If you don’t have a car, then this probably isn’t something that will be much of an issue for you.

    What they say: “Convenient location.”

    What they mean: “You’re close to a pub that makes noise 24/7.”

    This place is also probably super close to a train station or bus stop. Whether or not this is a problem for you will depend on what you’re looking for. If you enjoy constantly hitting the town and being out and about, then you’ll probably love this feature.
    However, if you’re more of a homebody, the noise and constant crowds of people from these places will probably just drive you insane. If you’re someone who doesn’t own a car and needs access to public transport, this is probably a winning feature for you.

    What they say: “Easy to maintain living area.”

    What they mean: “The living room is almost as small as the ‘cosy bedroom.’”

    Basically, entertaining people better not be your thing. You should also get used to the idea that you and your roomies will be squeezing onto your two-seater couch to watch TV.

    So you’re sitting here reading this blog on some website called Tomboy Sport. What is Tomboy Sport? What do they do?

    Most of us would agree that having good workout clothes and equipment makes the idea of going to the gym and sweating until we drop a lot more appealing. Tomboy Sport is a sportsluxe brand that produces goods to fill that exact need. They currently sell a premium sports towel that you can buy right from this website and many other online retailers.

    In my gym journey over the years, I’ve often found that I have nice new gym clothes ready to go and a good looking water bottle to keep me hydrated, but then have to drag around a daggy, old bath towel that I’ve been using for years.

    I recently got my hands on one of the Rookie Towels from Tomboy Sport and wanted to give you guys the low down on what I think about it, in case you’re in the market for some new workout accessories.

    First, the little plastic pouch that your bag comes in is the cutest. You could use this to store your towel in between uses, as a toiletry bag, or to carry around your iPad and other stationary bits and bobs. The sleek, white and minimal design of the pouch means you’ll look right on trend no matter what you choose to use it for.

    As you pull the towel of the pouch the first thing you notice is simply how awesome it feels. The thick microfibre fabric is so soft and also so light weight. I love the simple grid pattern, and honestly it was so pretty I almost felt guilty laying it down on the bench the first time I used it at the gym. They also come in both black and white so there is one to suit you no matter what your preferred shade is.

    Overall I have to give this little gym buddy a 10/10. It’s great quality and makes you look awesome while working out, what more could you want.

    In life it is very easy to get caught up in the worries and stresses of the moment. When things go wrong or just don't go quite to plan and seem to fall to pieces, we can end up expending all our time and energy worrying about it, while not necessarily doing anything about it; because often there isn't a lot that can be done. Once something goes wrong, it goes wrong and there's no turning back the clock to change that.

    Everyone feels emotions other than happiness sometimes, and there is nothing wrong with that, it is 100% naturally human. The problem occurs when those negative feelings, particularly stress and worry, seem to consume every minute of our waking existence.

    Work, university, money, friends, family, other relationships, they can all be things we find ourselves worrying and stressing over at some point; I know I do. But many of the problems that come along in these areas of our life are, in the grand scheme of things, insignificant.

    That petty fight you had with someone today, that bad mark you got on that one assignment, that order you stuffed up, that little mistake you made, they all suck at the time, and sometimes we can feel like they are the end of the world and we sit and brood on them for days at a time.

    Take a minute to step back though; look at this problem or issue from a little bit further away for a minute. Think to yourself, will this matter to me in a couple of years, a couple of months, a couple of weeks even? Be honest with yourself in this question, don't let your negative mind answer it for you. I bet 9/10 times you'll find the answer is no. When you realise the answer is no, let that worry or stress go.

    Spending time worrying and stressing prevents you from appreciating what is going on around you, and all the amazing things you do have. It stops you from grabbing hold of opportunities that come your way and blinds you to the beautiful thing right in front of you.

    Worrying less and stressing less is something I think we could all work on, including myself. So from today I challenge you, each time something negative begins to sit and eat away at you for an extended period of time, stop, take a deep breath, and let it go. You only have one life, don't waste it worrying about the insignificant.

    If you've been reading my blog for a while then you know it's no secret I love Kmart. If you haven't, well I really, really love Kmart. So many things in my house have come from this amazing store, so I thought I'd start sharing some of the pieces I've picked up over time.

    I love mugs. I don't know if that's a weird object to love, but I can't help it. Kmart is a place to pick up some awesome mugs like this one for super cheap (this massive one was only $3).

    Blueberry Face Mask

    Another thing you may know about me if you've been reading for a little while is I love a good face mask. I'd recently gone through all my detox, clay-type face masks, so I decided to try this one from Kmart. Unfortunately Kmart don't show their beauty products online, but I picked this one up in-store for only a few dollars, and I believe this is just a generic Kmart branded product. It's nothing super intense, but it does leave my face feeling nice and clean afterwards.

    Exfoliating Gloves

    Not exactly super exciting, but I wanted to include these because Kmart is a great place to pick up some super cheap exfoliating gloves. I still currently use my Le Tan mitt, but I tend to go through mitts and tanning gloves real quick (because my nails tend to puncture holes in the end of them). I picked these up for that enviable day when I ruin my current exfoliating tool. These also come in a huge range of colours.

    Terrarium Light
    These two pieces have to be my favourite in this haul. I created this little light up terrarium using two products from Kmart. I purchased the LED Twinkle Lights and stuffed them inside the Prism Terrarium. I keep this on my TV unit and it just looks so gorgeous at night, and cost me half the price (if not less) then some others you can buy from other brands.

    Detangler Brush

    Now what does this look like an exact replica of? Yep a Tangle Teezer. I've never used a proper Tangle Teezer before, so I can't compare this to that, but I can say this brush is awesome. I've been using the same brush for ages, but I've always wanted to try out one of these. I was a bit skpetctial when I first picked it up due to the plastic bristles. My blonde hair tends to knot very easily, and it only gets worse as it gets drier throughout the week. I expected the worst, but I think this is better then any brush I've owned yet. I don't know how it does it, but it manages to slid through and pull out all my knots while not painfully pulling out all the hair in my head. For only $9 I would highly recommend this as an alternative if you've wanted to try something like a Tangle Teaser.

    Cotton Pads and Tips

    Again something that isn't particularly exiting, but Kmart offers these products for so cheap I just had to mention them. Most of us use either cotton tips, pads or both in our hygienic routine, and of course we don't want to pay a fortune for bits of fluff on a stick. You can pick up packs of 100 cotton tips or pads for only $2. I'll never buy these essentials from anywhere else again.

    Though George Burke and his wife Bronwyn have had Coliseum Antiques up and running in the town of Mayfield for over 10 years, they still couldn’t tell you where everything is.

    This is easy to understand. When you first walk everything can overwhelm you, with each corner filled to the brim with every antique item imaginable.

    Whether your coming in looking for something specific, or simply to have a browse, there is sure to be something that will take your fancy. Jewellery, clothing, children’s toys, cutlery, and furniture - this place has it all.

    It’s easy to spend hours lost in this shrine to the past, and such lengthy explorations can leave you hungry. Luckily they also have an adjoined cafĂ©. The perfect place to meet family or friends for breakfast, you can spend the morning searching through forgotten wares, before sitting back down for a spot of lunch.

    Every section of the shop is stocked and owned by a different shop owner, each with their own unique taste and list of items for sale. The shop owners are ever changing, so you just never know what you might discover on your next visit.

    1.    What made you decide to buy the Coliseum and get into antiques?
    By accident really. When we first brought the building, it was really run down. It hadn’t been open for 10 or 20 years, there was no electricity, there was no water and all the roof was leaking and everything. Once we brought the building we thought, well what can we do with it and probably antiques seemed the logical choice, because it’s an old building, it all fits in well with it.

    2.  How do you pick all the items for the shop?
    We’ve got 20 different shop owners here and each one does their own buying. For example, the one we’re sitting in is owned by some people from Taree. People sell a lot of their private collection that they’ve collected all their lives, plus they buy and sell from other places.

    3.   What’s your favourite piece in the store?
    The best piece is this piano down the back. It came from Chicago, was built in 1920 and you use to put in a dime, and it plays a tune. It use to be in a piano bar, or arcade or something, and that’s what people would do, they’d put in a dime and sing along with the music. It’s probably the only one in Australia, it’s really big and heavy and its made by C Berg from Chicago, who later went on to make jukeboxes.

    4. You do repairs as well I see?
    Yeah we repair the old radios, record players, lights, and we repair telephones and gramophones. I do all that. I’ve been repairing radios for a long, long time, that’s my trade actually. Sometimes people might have had a radio in their family and it’s been in the shed for a long time and they just wanna get it going again, and we can do that. We do a lot of record players because they seem to have come back into vogue.

    5. What’s your favourite part about your job?

    Just all the people who come in. You get all ages, all varieties, from all different states and just finding what they’re looking for is probably the most interesting bit.
