  • When it comes to higher end makeup brands, I'm an advocate for Bobbi Brown. I recently had two products of theirs arrive in the mail that I wanted to share the love for.

Limited Edition Rosy Nudes Edition Eye Palette

If you love a rosy, nude look on your eyes, this palette is for you. With 10 amazing shades, ranging from mattes to shimmers, there are endless combinations of looks you can create. As to be expected from Bobbi Brown, all the shades have fire pigmentation, including the shimmers which I find some brands struggle to get to really pop without packing on a heap of product. Something like this would make a brilliant Christmas gift for the makeup lover in your life, but whether you want one for your friend or for yourself, you better get in store quick because there is only a limited run of these bad boys. They also have another limited edition eyeshadow palette, the Bronzed Nudes edition, that has some awesome metallic, matte and sparkle shades, depending on your preferred look.

    Highlighting Powder in Afternoon Glow

I'm also a huge fan of Bobbi Brown's highlighters, so having another one to add to my collection certainly doesn't make me mad. The brand recently lunched three new shades; Sunset Glow, Moon Glow and Afternoon Glow. If you're after something that will blind passers-by this stuff is worth picking up. Afternoon Glow has a nice pink-orange colour to it, to give you a little bit of a sun-kissed look, while your cheekbones also look on point. The powders are super smooth and easy to apply - there honestly isn't anything I don't like about it.

If you're heading to a show or fair over the summer, then you just might spot the Nude by Nature showbag. Showbags are always a great way to pick up a bunch of products from your favourite brands for a discounted price and the Nude by Nature showbag has a great range of products to give you a fresh and basic makeup look on-the-go.

    Airbrush Mineral Primer

Along with a cute little makeup bag to store all your products in, one of the first products you get is the Airbrush Mineral Primer. As you probably know by now, I'm no longer big on primers but this one has seen me jump back on the bandwagon a little bit. If I know I've got a long day of makeup wearing ahead, I have been popping a little bit of this on my cheeks and t-zone area to try and help my makeup stay looking smoother for longer. I do like the formula of this one - it's quite light but does still go a little tacky to really help makeup stick to it. I wouldn't say I notice a major difference using this product, but I probably get a few extra hours of shine-free foundation when I have this on, especially during a warmer day.

    Liquid Mineral Concealer

This concealer leans on the thicker side, which makes it great for covering imperfections or tried eyes if you're not to prone to creasing. Being thicker you do need to work with it a little more to get it to blend, but it saying that it does blend out quite nicely. The finish is somewhere in between matte and dewy, not quite on either end of the spectrum but for someone like me who prefers something matte, this is still fine to cover small areas of my face.

    Natural Mineral Cover Foundation

You'll also get a mini size of their Natural Mineral Cover Foundation (perfect for travelling). A powder foundation is great for the summer months as it won't give you a thick coverage that will noticeably sweat off during the day, yet if you do have days where you want to go for something a little heavier you only need to pack on a little more to achieve it. This powder is super smooth and easy to apply and gives a really natural looking finish. This isn't a super high coverage foundation, so it's definitely for those days you're heading out and just want a little something to give your skin a natural, flawless looking glow.

    Natural Illusion Eyeshadow Trio

This is the perfect trio to make a number of simple, natural looks. Whether you'er after something light to just give your eyes that little extra something or want to go a little darker and smokier, this little number has you covered and again, the small size is perfect for on-the-go and travelling. There are two matte shades and one lighter shimmer shade. Both matte shades have great pigmentation and are super smooth to apply. I found the shimmer shade wasn't a super strong colour, though it can be built up, so its better for adding a more subtle sparkle to your look.

    Kabuki Brush

Lastly you also get a little Kabuki Brush. This brush is super soft and perfect for applying the mineral foundation and again, a great size for when you're on-the-go.

I don't really ever do this, but it's time to take a walk into something of a bit of a negative space to have a little chat around collaborations - or more importantly what isn't a collaboration.

I've had many brands and businesses contact me, whether directly or through a PR agency, to ask about collaborating. Usually these will involve them sending over some product for me to test and try and then post about, and sometimes there may even be a little extra cash involved. This is something I would class as a collaboration. I know some people say you shouldn't just accept free product for your work, and I completely understand that argument, particularly if you're trying to grow your Instagram and make it a viable source of income. But for someone like me who just does it as something on the side and a bit of fun these days, I have no problem just receiving product in return for posting something; at the very least I'm getting the value of the product in return for my work.

This however, is not a collaboration ...

I've had many other examples pass through my Instagram DMs, but I think you get the idea.
I know I'm not alone in this as I've seen bloggers and Instagrammers post about this issue before, but offering a discount on your product, which I still need to buy, and then asking me to then post about it on my feed, is NOT a collaboration.  I often find the brands and companies who try to offer these types of deals are the ones you see commenting on peoples photos asking them to contact them about a collaboration.

I understand how this can come across - oh someone won't give you free product, poor you. But think of it from a more business perspective - essentially they are asking for me to pay to create content for them, they want me to pay to do my work in return for some 'possible exposure' on their channel if they decide to choose my image ..... would you want to do your work if you walked in and your boss said 'I need you to do this for me and just pay me $30 for it as well' - probably not.

There's plenty of talk recently about how promising someone "exposure" in exchange for their work just doesn't quite cut it in the creative field, not to mention just "possible exposure".

No matter how big or small the company, brand or Insatgrammer may be, if you say you want to collaborate with someone, you need to follow up with a deal that is actually a collaboration and pays them in one way or another for their time - not simply propose something that will earn yourself some extra dollars from getting someone to buy your product.

On my journey so far with Suki Hairdressing, I've been focusing on growing and thickening my hair. When I first walked into their salon all those months ago, my hair, while not as bad as I initially thought, was still in need of some professional care. As I've mentioned in previous posts, since being with Suki and the amazing Bek, the quality of my hair has improved tenfold.

I was also really focused on growing luscious long locks when I first sat in their chair, but the week before my most recent appointment I was starting to have a change of heart. Maybe it was thanks to seeing how nice my hair had become or the fact I'd spent the long weekend with all my girlfriends who almost all have beautiful short cuts, or maybe both. But when I sat down I knew it was time to get the chop.

I need to give a big thank to my hairdresser Bek, she has nailed the colour and style every time I visit, and when I left this time with my shorter hair I had exactly what I went in there looking for - I find I rarely come out of a hairdresser looking exactly how I envisaged - the girl is good!

During my visit I was also given a Kerastase treatment at the basin to help strengthen my hair and also meant I got a double head massage in conjunction with my usual SmartBond treatment.

While I was enjoying growing my hair out, and have had great success in growing those annoying baby hairs around my face thanks to the Activance I was given during my last visit, I love having a shorter chop. The real quality and thickness of my hair is now on show and I don't think I've ever had such thick and healthy ends before.

You can see a before and after shot my hair below.

My hair has truely been #savedbbysuki

A new skincare brand landed on my doorstep recently and they were generous enough to give me the entire skincare system to trial out.

Amperna are an ethical skincare brand that create simple but effective products to rebalance your skin. They are an Australian made and owned brand, they don't test on animals and their products are perfect for those with sensitive skin. The products contain only the necessary and active ingredients your skin needs to look its best including a probiotic complex, glycolic acid and vitamins B and C.

    Ultra Gentle Soothing Cleanser
This cleanser has a gel formula that is activated when it comes into contact with water. It turns into a foam as you lather it on your face and (as the name suggests) has a gentle balance of ingredients so your skin won't be irritated and it won't upset the pH levels of your skin. It also contains sage and cucumber extracts which will help to soothe and calm your skin if it is already irritated and is great if you have any skin issues such as dermatitis, rosacea, acne or eczema. I don't wear much makeup these days but I found when I do it helps to remove most of it and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean without feeling overly dry. The product does have a bit of a natural scent that is a little strong, which may be off-putting for those who don't like scents.

    Pro+ Vitamin C Hyaluronic Serum
Next step is serum (something I can't live without anymore) and Amperna have two to choose from. First is the Pro+ Vitamin C Hyaluronic Serum; if you need something to help hydrate your skin, give this stuff a go. While its not super thick, it takes a little longer to sink into your skin - so hold off a minute after applying before adding anything else to your face. The serum contains high levels of hyaluronic acid and antioxidants which help to correct uneven skin tone, dullness, winkles and fine lines. As hydrating as it feels, I still like to follow this one with some moisturiser (still to come).

    Probiotic+ DS Soothing Serum
The other serum available is the Probiotic+ DS Soothing Serum. This one has a more creamer formula and I found it sinks a bit quicker into the skin than the previous serum. With the same scent also, this serum is really great for soothing and calming irritated skin. It contains copper and zinc gluconates which help to stop bacteria from spreading on the skin (perfect for those with acne) and help to replenish your skin barrier. It has also been tested on those who have rosacea redness and was found to have great positive results.

    Lightweight Soothing + Emulsion
It's time to moisturise - and there's another two options to choose from. First the lightweight soothing + emulsion; I find this product to be a tad heavy for something that is called lightweight, but that said it did sink into my skin fairly quickly, so if you're needing a good hydration hit in the morning, this is perfect and it didn't leave me feeling oily or shiny which is always  plus. This moisturiser contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid, emollients and a probiotic to help give your skin nourishing hydration and protect it against environmental damage during the day.

    10% Pro+ Resurfacing Lotion
Last but certainly not least is the Pro+ Resurfacing Lotion. This product contains 10% glycolic acid which helps to very, very gently exfoliant your skin to improve its texture, while the antioxidants help to calm any redness. This product is the first of its kind; a chemical exfoliant that is specifically for sensitive skin. This moisturiser also does have a bit of a different scent; it's more something I expect a pharmaceutical product to smell like, but that said as soon as it sinks into the skin the scent all but disappears.

Last time it was my first ever facial, and during my latest trip to Baggas I got to try my first ever hot stone massage.

First, a bit about why hot stone massages are meant to be good for you.

The idea is that the heat from the stones, when placed onto your body, help to relax your muscles, which allows the beauty therapist to access deeper muscles when giving you the massage. The heat also helps to expand your bloody vessels and improve the blood circulation in your body while also helping to reduce stress, relieve pain and muscle stiffness and of course, let you relax. It is also said that it can help with boosting your metabolism.

The question I'm sure everyone was wondering, I know I was before I stepped in the room, is how hot are the stones? Will I be able to stand the heat!?

First point to make is that you can always let your beauty therapist know if the stones are to hot for you and they will make them cooler - never think you have to withstand the heat they've set, everyone is different.

What I noticed with the stones was, while they did feel quite hot when very first applied to my skin, it  wasn't long before the heat subsided - therefore the hotter part of the massage doesn't last for to long.

For each section of my body, the beauty therapist began by running at hot stone along my muscles and using it as part of the massage before then placing it on my body (for my hands she placed them in my palms for me to hold, on my feet she placed them on the soles while I was laying on my stomach so my feet held them in place and along my back).

The massage itself isn't suppose to be a super intense muscle massage. Of course you can always ask for more or less pressure from your beauty therapist, and mine still used a good amount pressure when it came to areas like my shoulders and neck - I found the massage was more about relaxing and letting this, along with the heat, relax you and your muscles.

If you're looking for a nice way to really chill out for an hour and treat yourself, or if you've got quite sore muscles that could use some help releasing tension, I think a hot stone massage is a great option.

Thank you to Baggas for letting me come in and try out one for myself - my experiences there have always been amazing! If you're a Newcastle, NSW local or are coming into the area I highly recommend Baggas for their beauty services.

I am so bloody excited for summer to return! With Spring upon us you've probably started spring cleaning our house, decluttering your wardrobe and trying to start a fresh - but what about spring cleaning you? Giving yourself some time this season to pay attention to your skin, maybe revitalise your hair and just generally get yourself feeling good for those summer months ahead. This month's Bellabox is full of products to help you with just that!

Biore Charcoal Deep Cleansing Pore Strips
How satisfying are these though! As gross as it may be, you have to admit it's pretty cool to pull one of these off your nose and see all the dirt that's been pulled out of your pores standing in little mountains. Getting dirt in your pores in inevitable and a product like this can really help you dig deep and pull out the crap that has built up over winter. As fun as these may be, do make sure not to reach for these to often. Pulling at your pores that much will just leave them constantly open and constantly filling with dirt and grim.

Burt's Bees Moisturising Lip Balm in Wild Cherry
The start of spring means those chilly winds can still be hanging around, though every now and then a hot day will appear and blast some warm air your way. This constant change in temperature and drying winds is no fun for your lips, but a Burt's Bees Lip Balm will be your saviour every time. The wild cherry smells absolutely amazing, it's like putting lollies on your lips!

Schwarzkopf LIVE Colour Radiance & Gloss Silver Toner
This one is for all my blonde girls out there who love a bit of a whiter sheen to their hair. While I pretty much stick to the products I've received from Suki Hairdressing (that purple shampoo is my saviour) having some like this on hand, in case I run out of the purple shampoo but need to refresh my colour and get rid of those yellow tones ASAP is great.

    Tarte Matte Lip Paint
I was so excited to see this inside my Bellabox - I've heard so many people rave about Tarte products but I'd never gotten my hands on anything from them before, until now.

    Vitamasoues Sleep In Mask
10 points for adorable packaging! I can't say I've ever had a face mask before that came looking like an egg, but I love it. This mask is actually one you put on before heading to sleep and keep on overnight so your skin can suck it all up. It says the best results come from using this product 2 - 3 times a week, unfortunately I only have the one. I actually found the packaging made it quite difficult to get the product out despite it being very cute - I also didn't wear this to bed as I personally feel like it would get everywhere, however I did wear it around the house for a few hours while at home just getting some work done. I know the concept of this mask is probably a bit different to something like a sheet mask which I normally use to give my skin a hydration boost, but when I took this off my skin just didn't feel like refreshed or reinvigorated. I feel like other moisturising masks which I have in a tub leave my skin feeling better than this one did. So while it may look super cute, it's not something I'd go out of my way to get again.

We all know I've been pretty slack on the blogging front lately, which means a bunch of products have been piling up in my spare room waiting for me to share them with you - so grab a drink and snack because I've got a whole lot of products to talk about today.

Triumph & Disaster Ritual Face Cleanser
My current skincare approach has definitely become a 'less is more' type routine. With my oiler skin, especially when I was a teenager, I use to overload with products, but as my skin has begun to even out such heavy routines really aren't necessary anymore - so having a few good key products on hand is perfect for me now. Something like this face cleanser from Triumph & Disaster is spot on for what I need right now. The formula is quite creamy and it feels really soft and refreshing to rub on your face. The scent is quite minty (reminds me of a mint slice, yum!), and I love using this in the morning to help wake me up. This product has been formulated with Tamanu oil, Peppermint oil, Willow bark extract and Bentonite clay and is alcohol free to make sure your skin isn't left feeling dry.

    Triumph & Disaster Logic Toner
I always follow with a toner after I cleanse my face, and it can also be a great way to refresh your face throughout the day (if you're having a makeup free day of course). Another awesome alcohol free product, this toner contains Witch Hazel (which is known for helping to fight acne and blemishes), Tasmanian Pepper Fruit Extract which helps to calm and sooth your skin and Alpine Willow Herb Extract to help clean and reduce your pores. I've avoided witch hazel products in the past simply due to not being able to stand the smell, but I can confirm smell is not a problem with this product, in fact it pretty much has no scent. The combination of ingredients also brings a really refreshing feeling to my skin just like the cleanser.

If you're looking for some great quality skincare products for a simple and easy routine, I can't recommend this brand enough - the products can sit on the pricey side, but your skin is certainly worth the investment and when you don't need many to help keep it looking fresh, what is there to lose.

    Mesoestetic Pollution Defense Ampoules
Speaking of investing in your skin, this product from mesoestetic also sits on the more expensive side. These pollution defines ampoules are used in the same way you would a serum however you only need to apply of a morning. The concentrated formula helps with anti-aging by providing your skin with hydration and protecting it against environmental pollutants (hence the name). The box also contains tools to help you store the rest of the product once you open one of the capsules. I found the formula to be a tad oiler than some serums (but only just a tad so I could still use it) and it has quite a mild, clean scent which I found pleasant.

    Obagi Elastiderm Eye Serum
Another regular brand I feature on my blog recently sent me the two products from their Elastiderm range to try out - I can't go without eye creams and serums so these were right up my alley.
This serum is applied with a roller, which I always love using because they also cool your eye under which can help immensely with any puffiness. An easy to apply serum with no scent and I found it dries almost instantly. The serum contains a bi-mineral complex and malonic acid which will help smooth and firm the skin under your eyes, as well as caffeine (which I've begun to notice in a lot more eye products lately) which aims to also help reduce puffiness. I find this serum is better for day use, while the cream is thicker and great to use a night so that while you sleep the skin can soak up all the goodness - plus a lighter formula works better if you're applying make up for the day.

    Obagi Elastiderm Eyecream
As I mentioned, I prefer to use this product at night due to the thicker consistency compared to the serum. This is much more like a moisturiser and doesn't sink in as fast as the serum, but it will leave your skin feeling super, super soft! This product has the same properties as the serum expect without the caffeine.

Ya'll know I'm a big fan of Biore, so when two of their products arrived in the mail I was pretty excited. Biore have just released two new micellar waters which complement two cleaners they already have. The first is the charcoal micellar water which is particularly good for oily skin. The charcoal helps to absorb any excess oils and reduce shine to help give you a matte finish - great for use just before applying makeup.

The other new product is their baking soda micellar water which is great for those with combination skin. This product will get rid of dirt and makeup without excessively drying out your skin. The difference between these micellar waters and others on the market is their higher concentration of micellar cleansing agents, which means they're more effective at getting in their and removing any crap that could block pores and cause breakouts. They also come in regular and mini sizes - prefect for travelling or taking with you while at a festival.

My skin has no excuse to be dry this summer thanks to this delivery from Jergens - four full-sized bottles of their new oil-infused moistures. With four different types in the range, each helps to make your skin feel and look hydrated, smooth and glowy depending on your skin type - they also all smell amazing and are super easy to work into the skin.
The Nourishing Honey works best for normal to dry skin and is infused with honey and orange blossom essence to help give your skin 24 hour moisture.
The Hydrating Coconut is also great for normal to dry skin and contains coconut oil and coconut water to give your skin an instant hydration boost (perfect for after the beach or shower).
The Deep Restoring Argan is better for extra dry skin, with moroccan argan oil and Vitamin E to give your skin a intense hydration infusion.
Lastly, the Enriching Shea Butter is great for dry and dull skin as the combination of pure African Shea Butter and oils will give a deep hydration and glow to the skin.

I didn't even recognise this as Dermalogica at first with the colourful packaging, but I do love the different direction they've taken wiht their newest products. As the name suggests, this masks aims to tackle your blackheads in kind of a fun way. When you first apply the product it comes out as a cream formula which you put on congested areas you want to target (always the T-zone for me). You then leave it for about five minutes and the product will begin to fizz up on your face so it looks like you have a little bubble bath on your face before you remove with a warm cloth. A nice quick mask if you don't have a lot of time on your hands and would also would be pretty fun to do with a bunch of friends.

This is some strong stuff, both in power and smell. This product aims to really fight away those blemishes or acne. This aims to tackle breakouts in just 15 minutes and while I wouldn't say it will be completely gone within that time, if it's quite red or inflamed this will help to bring it down. I use this as a spot treatment as my breakouts aren't to bad these days, but if you have more severe skin blemishes you can apply a thin layer to the entirety of your face - just be sure to test for any irritation on a small patch of skin before you go doing that.

We've finally reached the last round of products!
Skinstitut generously sent me a complete set of their products and I have been impressed with their stuff in the past and know many people who also love to use them - in fact my old housemate use to use this cleanser. If you have sensitive skin this IS NOT for you, but for other skin types who want something that is going to give their skin a good clean, that won't completely break the bank and is easily accessible (usually from your local pharmacy) this is a good place to start. With 12% Glycolic acid, tea tree oil and d-panthenol, this can be used daily to help decongest your skin and give it a deep cleanse.

I've had this product in my bathroom before and I love using this stuff. This product isn't intensely hydrating so you will still need something else on hand for after you apply this, but I find it helps to maintain an even skin tone and improves the overall look and feel of my skin.

This is a nice and light weight moisturiser that is perfect for the day time. It sinks into the skin nice and quickly and has a soft floral scent to it (perfect for the upcoming summer months). It dries with a more matte finish so its also great for under your makeup.

Last but not least, Skinstiut's Repair Balm - if you have real dry and cracking skin or have just undergone a chemical peel, cosmetic tattooing or micodermaabrasion, this is what you need handy in your cupboard. As you would guess by the name, the formula is a bit thicker than your regular moisturiser, but I still find it super easy to apply. When I apply this on my regular skin it leaves a bit of an oiler finish, which always a sign to me of something with intense hydration. This isn't something that I could use on the regular, but with the laser treatments and eyebrow microbalding I've had in the past, is still something I'd keep handy.
