Lean your art instead of hanging it
I got lucky this time around with my rental property in that it already had quite a few hooks attached to the walls, but sometimes you'll get properties that don't have any and where the landlord isn't going to budge on letting you put your own up - so how do you hang beautiful pieces of art that express who you are? Well you don't, you just lean it instead. Whether you put a big frame directly on the floor or put something smaller on a sideboard you have, leaning art is actually a really cool way to display your pieces and make its it super easy to move them around when you feel like it. You could also the same thing with any mirrors you have.

I don't know if it's the same all over the world, but in Australia you cannot touch the walls of a rental at all (no painting or wallpapering) unless you end up with a cool landlord who is happy for you to go for it, but 9.5 times out of 10 you won't be able to do much to the walls of your place, and they can be pretty drab and uninspiring most of the time. If you're just itching to get something on the walls, think about opting for some decals. You can find them all over the internet in pretty much any shape or design you want and best of all, when moving day comes, you can just peel them off and no one will be any wiser you ever had anything there.

A pretty easy one but something that will instantly liven up (pun intended) and bring a breath of fresh air to your home - plants. Whether you put them in stands or on pots on the floor (just make sure they don't have holes in the bottom for dirt and water to run out and mark the floor) plants are a great way to personalise your home and bring a little sunshine and happiness to the space. They're also really versatile and when you pack up and move they can easily be integrated into your new space.

If you don't love the flooring in your home, or just feel it lacks a bit of personality, a big statement rug is the perfect thing for it. Whether you want one in your living, your bedroom, or maybe both, a nice rug that suits your personal taste will help distract from any flooring you're not a fan of and bring some easy beautiful design elements into the space - another easy one to pack up and transport to your new home whenever you move.
