Get Your Beauty On (ft Lancome, Burt's Bees & Peter Thomas Roth)

If you're in the market for some new skincare, and you're looking to try something new, here are a few products I've been loving lately that just might be what you're looking for.

Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate

This luxurious feeling serum from Lancome is made from a new and improved formula. Enriched with millions of probiotic fractions, including Yeast and Bifidus extract, these fractions help to increase the strength of your skin's barrier against environmental nasties, as well as improve its texture, firmness and radiance.

This serum has virtually no scent and I found a little goes a lonngggggg way (always love value for money). It took a minute for it to sink into my skin, but once it did, it was completely absorbed making it perfect for putting under makeup. If you're after a new serum, I recommend giving this one a go.

Burt's Bees Rose Micellar Water

Who doesn't love a good micellar water! So refreshing and cleansing! This one from Burt's Bees has a nice rose scent to it and is nice and soothing on the skin. While it claims to also moisturise your skin, I skill put some moisturiser on after use to really ensure my face is hydrated.

I love using this water to help take off those bits of makeup, especially around my eyes, that may not have come off completely after cleansing and being alcohol free, it isn't harsh on your skin.

Burt's Bees Roe Micellar Face Wipes

A good face wipe is key to have on hand! Whether you just want to something to wipe on and refresh your face, or if you're being lazy like I can be at times, and you don't feel like doing a full cleanse but have some makeup and dirt you need to remove from your face after a full day of wear, and these ones from Burt's Bees are a winner!

They do have a slight rose scent, but nothing to overpowering, and they are made from repurposed cotton cloths. The micellar water helps to lift any dirt from your face without having to harshly rub your skin and the wipes are also non-comedogenic which means they are perfect all skin types, even those who are acenic. These leave my skin feeling soft and hydrated afterwards (no dryness here) which gives them a thumbs up in my book.

Naturally Serious Get Even Cold-Pressed Peels Pads

Give your skin a mini spa treatment in the comfort of your own home with the Get Even Cold-Pressed Peels Pads from Natural Serious. These pads allow you to give your face a very gentle peel, which essentially exfoliates your skin to help remove dead skin cells, while also hydrating and soothing the skin and helping to reduce signs of ageing. Containing pomegranate enzyme, skin-smoothing oleic, palmitic and linoleum fatty acids, as well as a patented anti-pollution blend of six anti-oxidants (pomegranate, goji berry, grape seed, green tea, red tea and white tea), your skin is in for a good time.

I found these had a very natural scent to them that wasn't to overpowering, making them very pleasant to use.

Get the Skin You Deserve (ft Medik8, Dermalogica & Skin Doctors)

Give your skin the TLC and pampering it deserves with some of these products.

Dermalogica AGE Bright Spot Fader

There's nothing more annoying then after a week-long fight with that sore, red spot, just when you think it's all over, you find yourself left with a nice little dark reminder of what felt like a never-ending battle - well no more thanks to the Dermalogica AGE Bright Spot Fader. This guy works as a two-in-one treatment to both help reduce the appearance of any breakouts and also working to ensure there aren't any post-breakout marks left on your face. The product uses Salicylic Acid to help clear the pimples and then uses a combination of Niacinamide and Hexylresorcinol to reduce any marks and give your skin a nice, even tone.

Skin Doctors Instant Neck, Chest & Hand Lift

Got some fine lines and wrinkles on your neck, chest or hands you're keen to see gone quickly, then check out the Instant Neck, Chest & Hand Left from Skin Doctors. This product aims to do just that and improve your skin texture over time. The product features three roller balls that you roll over the desired areas as you squeeze the tub, which gives a nice cool feeling. The product itself actually smells really good; a bit like how your hair would smell after you've been to the hairdresser and they use all the good, fancy products on it. While I could see a difference once the product had dried, I wasn't a big fan of the feeling I was left with. There was a tight, dry feeling with the product drying matte-like. I personally don't like anything feeling dry on my face, but if that type of sensation doesn't bother you, you might get along with this product.

Medik8 r-Retionate Youth Activating Cream

This breakthrough product from Medik8 features the molecule retinyl retinoate - this guy helps to give you more even, youthful looking skin by reducing lines and wrinkles while improving the tone, texture and brightness of your skin. Retinyl retinoate is less irritating then retinol, which means this product can be used both day and night. With no parabens, no artificial fragrance, no alcohol and no pathalates, this product was also award the Presidential Award by the Korean Ministry of Health, so you know it's got to be good. You don't need a lot of product to get full face coverage and it sinks in quite quickly and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. In terms of fragrance, there is a bit of a scent there; I don't really know how to describe it except that it smells how you would expect more clinical product to smell, but not in a bad way.

Help Your Skin Win with Jurlique

If you've been reading and/or following this blog for a while, you'll know we're no stranger to a good Jurlique product around here. Every time I try something new from these guys, they continue to produce the goods and I'm yet to be disappointed by anything that has crossed my path. Today I've got a few more newer products to share from the Herbal Recovery range.

Signature Moisturising Cream
One product I could never ever go without; a good moisturiser. This cream will help to smooth out lines and wrinkles, while using Cedar Bud extract to help increase the suppleness of your skin and help it to hold on to that oh so important moisturise. This cream also contains Citrus Unshiu Peel extract which helps to give your skin a more even tone. With a refreshing floral scent, while at first this feels like a thicker cream that might be best for night time use, as you rub and work it into the skin, it ends up feeling quite light weight and is a day time favourite for me.

Signature Eye Gel
Now that I'm working pretty much seven days a week (though I love it), having some type of eye product handy is essential to help keep my under-eyes hydrated and to stop me from looking as tried as I might feel at times. This ultra light gel aims to brighten, firm and smooth your under-eyes and uses potent farm-grown botanicals to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The gel has a lovely rose scent and it dries super quickly, so it's perfect to use in the morning before putting on makeup.

Signature Serum
Say goodbye to dull looking skin and soften those fine lines and wrinkles with the Signature Serum.
With the same lovely rose scent as the eye gel, a little goes a long way. The light weight formula sinks into the skin fairly quickly, so it's great for daytime use before putting on your makeup. The Red Clover Flower extract helps enhance the hydration provided by the Hyaluronic Acid and once absorbed, it creates a protective film on the surface of your skin to keep it looking and feeling fresh all day long.

Skin on Fleek with Skinstitut

When I found out Skinstitut had a makeup range, I had to try it!As a fan of their skincare, I was interested to see how their makeup would do. Currently stocked exclusively at Laser Clinics Australia, the range was born out of the need to provide something to patients who had undergone dermal treatments and wanted something for their face post-treatment, but that wouldn't be clogging or damaging to their healing skin.

The Skinstitut makeup range is essentially a hybrid between skincare and makeup, with each product in the range containing an advocated formula that combines cosmedical skincare ingredients with natural, triple milled minerals to give you something that you can wear after treatment and that will also help with the healing process.

While I haven't had any dermal treatments recently, knowing how good for your skin these products were, I had to put them to the test - for reference, my skin sits a little on the oiler side; the main problem I get and which I use to test how good any makeup is, especially foundation, is whether or not the product separates and/or goes shiny on my skin throughout the day, or if it can tough it out and manage to stay looking flawless.

Pressed Mineral Foundation

This product is a 4-in-1 deal, offering concealer, foundation, sun protection and a finishing powder, so you only have to put one product on your face and your base is caked and ready to go. Unfortunately, for me, this was probably my least favourite product out of them all. While it applied really well and looked great during the first part of the day, as I looked in the mirror in the afternoon, while it hadn't majorly separated, it almost somehow looked cakier than it had when I first applied. I also feel like it had a bit more a glow/highlight effect to it than regular foundation which I was living for all over my face.

Loose Mineral Foundation

This stuff is certainly one of my favourite picks from the range. Lately my skin hasn't been enjoying liquid foundation - its just been separating and looking super oily on my face for some reason, so I turned to this for a lighter option. This Mineral Foundation was the answer I needed - it manages to give my face an almost full coverage look, but while still looking very natural and by being able to use less product on my face, my skin isn't reacting as much with my makeup and staying put better throughout the day.

High Definition Foundation

This was another one of my favourites from the range. While I'm not currently using liquid foundation, as mentioned above, I did give this a go a few times when my skin was being less of a pain in the butt and I found myself really liking. While I will say it doesn't hold in place quite as much as my coveted Chanel foundation, this stuff certainly sits in a close second place. I found this foundation, while still giving a full coverage, is more light weight then the Chanel foundation I always use, so is a perfect option for when I want something a bit less intense but still want coverage.

BB Cream - Blemish Balancer

I've always been a bit on the fence when it comes to BB Creams - a lot of the ones I've tried in the past have either just given no coverage and sat more on the end of being a moisturiser than any sort of foundation, or they give coverage but the oil from my skin would seep though and seperate it all in no time. Still, I gave this product a go and I have to say I was pretty impressed. While it still wasn't my favourite of the lot, I feel like this is something that would be perfect if I was just ducking out somewhere and wasn't looking to be wearing makeup for an extended period of time. I also found, despite being a BB Cream, that it had pretty good coverage while remaining lightweight on the skin.

New Bits and Bobs (ft Jurlique & Genie Beauty)

Keep your skincare game strong with some of these new and returning favourite products.

Genie Beauty Instant Line Smoother

I actually first encountered Genie Beauty products back in 2017 when I reviewed both this product and the Dream Cream (see below). I wrote about my first impressions on using this product here when I was using primer under my makeup. I don't ever reach for primer anymore and while on first impression I did find this product to have a nice consistency that wasn't to thick or to runny and sunk into my skin quite easily without leaving me feeling oily, from memory as I used it over time I found some of my foundations had trouble blending into my skin properly when I applied this. While I'm not someone who ever reachers for primers anymore and therefore couldn't give out recommendations on good ones to use, with this one I would probably say try picking up something else instead before giving this a go.

Genie Beauty Dream Cream

While I may not have gotten along with the Instant Line Smoother, the Dream Cream from Genie Beauty was a different story. I first reviewed this product back here and I still enjoy it as much today. I prefer to use this cream at night and quite enjoy the caramel-esque scent to it. This sunk nice and quickly into my skin and certainly kept my face feeling hydrated throughout the night until morning. This hydration is thanks to the number of powerful active ingredients packed inside like Matrixyl 3000 peptides, beta glucan, alpha lipoic and hyalauronic acid.

Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist

What would a new in beauty post be from me without some Jurlique products to talk about. These guys certainly keep me stocked up and I'm always excited to give their new products a go. I've always been a fan of their classic rose scented Hydrating Mist, but if rose isn't your cup of tea Jurlique have brought out a new range of scents. The first is a Lavender one which, you guessed it, smells like lavender. The scent is certainly strong so definitely only reach for this if you're a lavender lover. I think this makes the perfect night time mist to help sooth you into sleep.

Jurlique Violet & Grapefruit Hydrating Mist

Another new scent in their new Hydrating Mist range is Violet & Grapefruit. If you love something that smells a little bit sweeter but isn't super overpowering, then I'm pretty sure you're going to love this one.

Travel Ready with Suki Hairdressing

In just over three weeks time I will be jet setting off to the U S of A! After waiting years to take this trip I can't wait to spend just about four weeks travelling around, eating all the foods, drinking all the drinks and doing all the shopping. Also, typical Instagrammer and blogger in me is also excited to return and write a bunch of blog posts giving you the low down on the trip.

When I excitedly mentioned my travel plans to my hairdresser who had been before, she quickly warned me about the water and how it will just suck the moisture out of my hair. That combined with the fact that we will be stopping in a few places where swimming pool trips will be mandatory, my coloured hair probably wasn't going to fair very well.

Never one to leave a girl and her hair hanging, Suki Hairdressing hooked me up with a couple of handy products for my travels to make transporting all my haircare that little be easier while ensuring my hair will still be in good hands even when I'm on the other side of the world.

Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Wash Colour Enhancing Shampoo / Travel Size

The main reason that my hair will get so dry in America is thanks to all the chlorine in their water and, of course, in the pools. When blonde hair hits chlorine for long enough we all know the struggles with the green tinge that eventually ensues. To fight against the green, I'll be taking two travel size bottles of the Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Wash Colour Enhancing Shampoo. Each bottle should last me about two weeks, washing about two/three times each week. This is a super purple shampoo that will help to banish any brassy or green tones and keep my blonde looking on fleek for the duration of my trip.

Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Colour Enhancing Treatment

As well as keeping my hair colour on point, I'll also need to keep my hair hydration up and that's where Kevin Murphy's Blonde Angel Colour Enhancing Treatment comes in. As well as taking my holy grail L'Oreal SmartBond conditioner with me, this treatment will come in handy when I start to notice my hair needing a real hydration hit.

Kevin Murphy Maxi Wash

This product is something I will use in place of my regular shampoo from time to time, especially when I'm using any swimming pools. This shampoo is designed to really clean out your hair of any products, like dry shampoo, and chemicals such as chlorine, which will also help me to combat any green tinges or frizzy, dehydrated hair.

Keratase 8H Magic Night Serum

The last product that I'll be holding close while traveling is the newest hair miracle to come out of Keratase, their 8H Magic Night Serum. Leave this product in your hair overnight the night before you plan to wash it and wake up with soft, hydrated and just plain awesome hair. This is the stuff I will be putting in my hair as soon as we land in New York (our first stop!) and for the entirety of the trip.

Nails on Fleek with Opallac

If you're looking to get salon style nails in the comfort of your own home, Opallac have just what you need - and it's also not that hard.

The Opallac Starter Kit, which you can pick up from your local Priceline, has everything you need to get started creating salon worthy beauties in your lounge room.

With three gel colours, a top and base coat, their Shine & Soak solution, remover wraps and the all important LED light, the instructions are super easy to follow and it doesn't take to much time out of your day to have nails that are left looking on fleek.

There are also a bunch of other colours and finishes you can pick up separately once you find yourself addicted and in need of more shades.

One of the major benefits I found with using this system for nails is, apart from the time you spend with your nails under the lamp, which is only a couple of minutes, there is no dry time involved. So no more looking crazy waving your hands around or being scared to touch or do anything for the next few hours after you've painted your nails - once the process is complete, you are ready to head out the door.

A few pointers that I've picked up from giving this a go a couple of times. Firstly, don't pack on the polish and try to keep it even. Where possible, try to avoid piling on too much polish and try to keep your application as even as possible; this might take a couple of attempts. The lamp will dry anything, so if you apply unevenly, you'll notice it and feel it in your finished product - not a fun time.

Also, while it will be tempting to start peeling this stuff off, I highly advise you don't. If you want to take it off and change your colour, there are instructions on how to take the polish off without ruining the upper layers of your nail which peeling will do.

While I don't find myself reaching for this kit every single time I want to do my nails, mainly because I have so many shades in regular polish already - when I'm wanting a real polished and professional look and feel like pampering myself, this kit is perfect!

A brand that needs no introduction on this blog; Jurlique are back with some more awesome products to make your skin feel and smell amazing, in particular, your hands.

Limited Edition Fragrant Rose Hand Cream
Your hands will be thanking you after getting an intense hit of hydration from this product, especially during these cooler months. With Rosa gallica Flower Extract, this cream will help to nourish and protect your skin from environmental aggressors, while the rose fragrance will help to leave your hands feeling velvety smooth. This hand cream is a little thicker, however it still sinks in really nicely. It does have their classic strong rose scent, but I found that the scent wore off my hands over time.

Restoring Hand Lotion / Lemon, Geranium & Clary Sage
Compared to the previous product, this cream is on the thinner side and I found it super easy to rub into the skin; perfect for when you just need a quick fix. You can certainly smell the geranium and sage, but I didn't mind it. This lotions contains Marshmallow Root, Pansy and Echinacea which helps to smooth and hydrate your skin, as well as protect your hands against any environmental nasties.

Restoring Hand Wash / Lemon, Geranium & Clary Sage
With Marshmallow Root, calming Chamomile and purifying Echinacea, this hand wash won't dry our out skin like some others can, but will help to soften them, while also cleaning and leaving them feeling refreshed. As you can figure from the name, this has the same scent as the previous hand lotion. Also can we take a moment for the cute bottle that will look good in anyones bathroom.

Potent Anti Ageing with Peter Thomas Roth

The latest collection from Peter Thomas Roth, their Potent C range, is all about powerfully tackling the signs of ageing with the use of mega-potent Vitamin C that's 50 X more powerful than traditional Vitamin C.

Bright & Plump Moisturiser

This powerful moisturiser contains 10% THD Ascorbate, 3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid to help firm, brighten and improve the look of an uneven skin tone and texture. Hydrolyzed Collagen and Hydrolyzed Elastin help to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles and Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium PCA help the skin to appear plump with moisture, while Trimoist KMF works to locks in hydration for up to 24 hours. The use of Diamond Powder means it will give you a youthful-looking glow and the inclusions of Ginger Root Extract help to maintain results and protect against future discolouration. I found this moisturiser to be very hydrating and, in sticking with the range name, the product itself is an orange colour. In terms of scent, I found this had a spicy citrus smell to it which I quite enjoyed.

Power Serum

With 20% THD Ascorbate 3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid, the serum gives you a complete and advanced formula for ageing, firming and brightening concerns. You can use this in all places on your skin were ageing occurs the quickest including your face, neck and the back of your hands. I found this serum didn't have much of a scent to it and was a little on the oiler side but that meant it also felt very hydrating.

Power Eye Cream

This product aims to reduce the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and crows feet with the use of 10% THD Ascorbate, 3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid. This eye cream also contains Caffeine, Hyaluronic Acid and 3% Phycoderm which aims to help improve the look of dark circles, puffiness and crows feet both instantly and over time. Another interestingly coloured product, this cream comes out a yellow colour and has a similar scent to the moisturiser. I found this cream to be a little sticky, so I would probably stick to using this at night, but it proves to be very hydrating.

New Beauty Bits (ft Bobbie Brown, Medki8 & Jurlique)

There's a been a good mix of products coming through the mail lately, so I wanted to share some of my favourite bits and pieces that I've received.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition

I've previously talked about this product a couple of times on my blog before. This product takes their regular Balancing Mist and combines it with a blend of four unique Rose extracts that will allow the product to not only hydrate and refresh your skin but uplift your mood and relax your mind at the same time - the perfect thing for a stressful day. I always like to use their Mist as a part of my skincare routine as a toner so I get a good hit of hydration (and now relaxation) each morning and night.

Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense

This skincare brand has quickly become one of my favourite. While I know they sit on the more expensive side of the scale, every time I use their products my skin reacts so well and always looks its best when I have one of their products in rotation in my skincare routine.

This is their original hyaluronic acid serum but supercharged! This product combines their original formula with Natural Moisturising Factors including sodium PCA, glycerin, urea, proteins, sugars, amino acids, lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, creatine and more to give your skin a real hydration boost.

I found this product to be a thicker type of serum but still super easy to spread. It feels very hydrating and gives a cooling sensation on the skin as it sinks in nicely. It also didn't have any scent that I noticed.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip

If you ever need a solid lip product, I've found you can't go past Bobbi Brown. Their new Crushed Liquid Lip is basically a hybrid of a liquid lip, a balm and a lip gloss and they are also paraben-free, phthalate-free, sulfite-free, talc-free, mineral oil-free and gluten-free. The lovely team sent me three shades and I honestly loved all of them - Juicy Date for a more natural, everyday type of shade, Bitter Sweet as a nice way to add a pop of interesting colour without being overly bold and Cherry Crush for a nice classic and striking red. I found all of them applied smoothy and evenly and dry down well without feeling super drying on the lips and as if they might crack.

Get Your Organic On

Organic On has me mask heaven at the moment! As the name would suggest, these guys make organic products with pure products are carefully sourced, extracted and delivered and also have minimal carbon footprint. They sent me their range of products to try out and I wanted to share them with you.

Activated Charcoal Blackhead Removal Mask

This product aims to minimise the appearance of pores, absorb excess oil and gently exfoliate your skin. It is also full of anti-aging vitamin C and antioxidants which aim to visibly reduce hyperpigmentation, minimise large pores, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and combat excess oil. I found this to be just like your standard black peel off mask. I find these don't work to well on me to pull out black heads, they mostly just seem to pull out all the little hairs on mt face which is why it feels so smooth afterwards. It may be that my current blackhead situation isn't in such a state that it needs a treatment like this - I think these type of masks are really something that you need to try yourself to find if it works for you. If you find peel off masks have worked for you in the past I think this is a great option and much better than buying a cheap $2 one off eBay that could have all sorts of unknown ingredients in it.

Exfoliating Clay Masks

I love a good clay mask, so having three to try from Organic On was certainly exciting - I love to use clay masks to really detoxify and cleanse out my skin, particularly if I notice breakouts starting to occur and I want to combat them early to limit the amount of time they spend hanging around on my face. I honestly loved each of these (it's hard for me to not love most clay masks I try) and each aims to combat certain skin issues and give varying results depending on what you're after. They also have different scents, which also might affect which one suits you best depending on how sensitive you are to smells when they're on your face.

Dead Sea Mud

This detoxifying mask uses a combination of Dead Sea Clay and Activated Charcoal to act as a magnet that draws out the toxins in your skin, and then uses Turmeric and Raw Cacao to help tone and hydrate. In terms of scent, I unexpectedly found this smelt a bit like eucalyptus lollies, which I didn't mind.

French Rose

This is an exfoliating mask that uses chamomile, lavender and essential natural oils to help cleanse out your skin and leave it glowing. Despite the name, I found this didn't really have a strong rose scent like I was expecting, in fact I couldn't smell to much scent at all.

Japanese Matcha

This is a rejuvenating mask that blends Matcha and Cucumber, along with the hydrating powers of Aloe Vera, to help both cleanse and hydrate your skin. I found this one has a nice natural, clean scent to it.

My Favourite Hair Products from Suki Hairdressing

We're slowly creeping up to a year of me having my hair rescued by Suki Hairdressing. These guys have well and truly saved my hair and have taken it from thin and breaking to thick and the healthiest it has been in years. I've been trying a number of different products since starting my journey with them and I have a few favourite products that I really wanted to share.

SmartBond Professional SmartBond No 3

This is my new go-to conditioner for every other wash. This stuff helps to repair the inside of my hair and has been a major player in process of getting it long and thick again. Just after using this a few times I quickly began to notice my split ends weren't coming back and my hair was beginning to thicken and the overall quality was improving significantly.

L'oreal Magnesium Silver Shampoo
The fact that this works so well for me does come down to the wonderful job my hairdressing, Bek, does while I'm at Suki. Because Bek doesn't use a toner in the salon but simply colours and then washes my hair with this shampoo at the basin, as I have this at home I'm able to maintain my colour almost perfectly in between visits. Popping this in my hair and letting it sit for a few minutes before washing it out helps to rid my hair of any yellow tones and keep it looking fresh and on-point.

Keratase Ciment Thermique

If you have colour treated hair you should never be going without some sort of heat protectant and this is the best one I've ever used. This product also adds to the overall softness that my hair has, even after being heat treated. A little goes a long way and the best way to apply this is to put some between your hands and pull your hair back like you're putting it up in a ponytail and run it through the hair. Then, any you have left on your hands you run through the top. I also love the smell of this stuff and it gives my hair that 'I just left the hairdresser' scent but in my own bathroom.

Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oil

I love to apply a hair oil onto ends after I've finished styling and also at night before I go to sleep just to help give it a little bit of something to help with any moisture it might have lost. Suki have got hooked me on this one from Aveda.
