I don't often switch up the things I use to make myself a new face everyday, so when I got the chance to try out these new brushes and sponges from Real Techniques I was super excited. I'd always heard people raved about their products so I was keen to finally get to try some out myself. If you didn't know, Real Techniques recently came out with some new pieces, including the Ultimate Base Set, a 2 pack of Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges and a Miracle Sculpting Sponge.
First off I want to note that this pack is limited edition, so if you're thinking you might want to get your hands on it, I would suggest doing so before it says bye bye.
Now that I've finally gotten the chance to use a Real Techniques brush, I finally get what all the hype is about; these babies are bloody wonderful. In the Ultimate Base Set you get an expert face brush, a deluxe concealer brush and a miracle complexion sponge. I was literally about to go out and buy myself a new concealer brush so this couldn't have come at a more perfect time. The softness of this concealer brush means it's perfect for using under your eyes because it's nice and gentle on that delicate skin area. It also blends that concealer to perfection.
The expert face brush is also a massive 10/10. The bristles are nice and dense and soft, so you know straight away this baby is going to do good things. I honestly take more time doing my makeup now simply because I love buffing my foundation out with this brush. It feels nice on the skin and it does a bloody wonderful job at making your makeup look on point. For a note, I used liquid foundation with all of these products.
Moving on to the miracle complexion sponge, I was hesitate to try it I must admit. I use to only apply my makeup with sponges back when I first starting horribly putting makeup on my face, but I was obviously using terrible, cheap sponges that just sucked up all my makeup and did a terrible job at bending. That horrific experience with sponges however had left me scarred and scared to try any sponge again (so dramatic right). Then I think the first time I tried a beauty blender type product, I forgot to wet the sponge beforehand and it just didn't go well, and again I thought sponges were the enemy. However I made myself have a go, and I have to say I think I'm converted to the ways of the beauty blender. I honestly have to say I think I prefer this even more than the brushes, something I never thought would be possible. While it does suck up a bit of your makeup (it's a sponge after all), it doesn't take away much. The way it blends out any sort of foundation makes it look seamless and flawless. I've been a bit slower still at using one of these, but I honestly think this baby is amazing. So if you don't feel like buying the full set and don't know which item to pick from the lot, I would highly recommend grabbing yourself the miracle complexion sponge.
Receiving all these different types of sponges in the mail was a literally overwhelming for someone who use to be scared of the little squishy makeup tools, but again these sponges helped convert me.
Out of these two my favourite is definitely the Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges, which I use for my concealer under my eyes and on any little blemishes I have. I love to use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer which can be a heavy product and look caky if not done right. But every single time I use one of these little purple delights to bend it in it always just looks fleek as can be. They're super comfortable in the hand and I honestly think they make blending concealer a quicker job.
Now I'm still getting use to the Miracle Sculpting Sponge. As the name suggest, this baby is made to help you contour and highlight. I've only just gotten into highlighting and contouring myself, so I'm still trying to nail the art of it. I have to say using this sponge makes the learning process quite interesting. I've just been using whatever brush I can get my hands on to contour and highlight recently, but just like basically every other product of theirs, this baby does a seamless job. As someone who definitely would not call themselves a contour and highlighting expert, I'm pressed to say whether I 100% recommend this yet, but my own terrible makeup skills aside, I see real potential in this sponge once I finally get the whole contouring thing down pat. If you're looking for something new to switch up your makeup routine then this little pink wonder would be something worth considering.
